dog friendly brixham
Since moving here 2 years ago we have found Brixham to be a very dog friendly place. The majority of local stores (not food retailers) welcome well behaved dogs (most keep treats behind the counter). A large number of the cafes, pubs and restaurants also welcome them - a few restaurants only during the day though!
There are lots of places to walk dogs off leash although the main beach area - Breakwater Beach - is dog free between 1st May and 30th September. A short walk from the Quarterberth is a small gated grassy area which is great for giving your pooch a little off-leash time! further afield all of the walks mentioned on the local walks page have plenty of space for the dogs to be off leash and both Berry Head and Fishcombe Beach have the advantage of allowing off-leash dogs as well as having great cafes and toilet facilities!
If you want to take the dog for a swim but do not want to go all the way to Fishcombe in the summer months when they cannot swim at Breakwater Beach you can use Shoalstone Beach. This is a tiny beach between Breakwater Beach and Shoalstone Pool which basically has no beach at high tide but you can still acess it via steps. At low tide it is a beautiful little sandy cove and big enough for a family and a couple of dogs! We can direct you if you cannot find it (it is a little Brixham secret!!)
Slightly further afield (you can either drive or bus there (no 12) or do a 5 mile walk to get there) is Goodrington North Beach which is sandy and dog friendly - by far the nicer part of Goodrington Beach and at low tide very sandy - there are generally tonnes of dogs playing here.

The pet store on Fore Street stocks a good variety of food and treats - Bowie would personally recommend the venison sausages!!

Restaurants - Albero, Rockfish
Cafes - Guardhouse, Curious Kitchen, West Country Deli
Pubs - Blue Anchor, Old Markethouse, The Manor, New Quay Inn
