4. elberry cove
This is a continuation from the Fishcombe Beach walk. If you are already at Fishcombe Beach you will need to take the (rather steep) wide path up from the beach all the way up to the road (and the Battery Museum on the LHS). Alternatively you can head there from Battery Gardens by avoiding walking down to Fishcombe Beach at all and taking the path up some steps at the far side of Battery Gardens (shown).
Once you have headed all the way up this path through the woods you will come to the road and the Battery Museum will be on your RHS. Turn right, pass the museum and head up the path between the 2 holiday parks.
You will see this sign. Turn right and walk down a steep path through the woods to Churston Cove (you will have to walk an equally steep path out of Churston Cove on the other side so it is not for the faint hearted!)
Churston Cove is basically almost joined to Fishcombe Beach at low tide but it is quite a hilly walk to get to it! From here you hike up the steps on the other side of the beach. At the top of the steps keep walking straight until you come to a T in the path - go right and walk through the woods and past the golf course on the LHS. Walk for about 15 mins alongside the golf course through the woods.
Keep going until you eventually come to 2 brick pillars - walk through and continue along the into Elberry Cove (it takes a right and zig zags down a little).
At the bottom you will find the remains of Lord Churston's bath house - created for him in the early 18th Century when sea bathing became very popular!
You are now at Elberry Cove and can either return back from here or carry on to Broadsands Beach (click the button below) . If you plan to head back you can either retrace your steps or head back via a flatter route going thourgh Churston.
To do the latter retrace your steps back towards the brick pillars. After zigzagging up the hill a little do not take a left towards the pillars but carry on up the path in front of you instead.
